Old Man's Beard

 

 

  • This plant’s roots were pounded and eaten by the Kaurna people and they also used the stems to bind spear shafts.

  • It was once common in drier woodland areas.

  • Flowers appear in winter through to spring.

  • The fluffy seed pods were used by birds to line nests and the seed pods make it look like an Old Man’s Beard.
